The WeCollaborate Head Office is based in the City of Melfort, Saskatchewan, Canada. WeCollaborate is an active part of the Northeast Saskatchewan community, and has ongoing partnerships with a number of organizations in and around Melfort, Saskatchewan. The organization has also initiated a number of community enhancement projects in and around Melfort. Our recent work and partnership in the community has reached out to women, families in distress, the elderly, youth and families in general. Our work and activities have however, not always been concentrated in Northeast Saskatchewan.
The idea of creating the organization began with the multi-dimensional yet unified vision of introducing Collaborative Law, advancing Alternative Dispute Resolution, and increasing Public Legal Education in Africa. Accordingly, in the first few years of its existence, particularly in 2012, work was concentrated in Africa, and the organization was named 'Collaborative Conflict Resolution for Africa Inc' at incorporation. As work continued, it became evident that there was room for enlightenment regarding Collaborative Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution and there was also room for Public Legal Education work in our Northeast Saskatchewan community. As a result, and to accommodate the provision of the organization’s services locally in Saskatchewan, in June 2016, the Articles and the name of the organization were amended and the organization became 'Collaborative Conflict Resolution for All Inc.'
In September 2017, in acknowledgment and inclusion of francophone Africa as well as French speaking Canada, the name of the organization was amended to 'CollabAfrique -Organization of Collaborative Professionals for Africa Inc'. Finally in April 2018 the organization adopted the name- 'WeCollaborate- Professionals Promoting Change Through Knowledge Inc.'
In the first few years, the organisation’s programs were called Legal Education Advancement Programs (LEAPs) and were provided under two major program heads: Collaborative Law Initiative in Africa (CLIA) and Collaborative Law Initiative in the Northeast (CLIN). All WeCollaborate programs are now Learn, Evolve, and Advance Programs - (LEAPs).
Throughout its journey of discovering and adopting "the right name for the Organization" the work and focus of the organization has remained consistent - providing socio-legal public education, addressing social barriers and enhancing peaceable relations by partnering to provide information, education, resources and programs for social development .
